To get to the Isle of Eigg, you can catch a ferry from Mallaig.  Caledonian Macbrayne operates the Small Isles ferry service to Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna all year round.

CalMac Summer Timetable 2016 – from 25th March to 23rd October the Loch Nevis runs from Mallaig to Eigg every day except Wednesday.   You can see the full timetable here.   It’s notoriously difficult to read, so if you have any questions about ferry travel please contact us using the form below.

The day before and the morning of travel to Eigg, please check CalMac’s Service Status in case there have been any changes.

Additionally, during the summer months from late April to September there is a summer passenger ferry from Arisaig to Eigg every day, except Thursdays, operated by Arisaig Marine.

If you’re travelling to Mallaig or Arisaig by train or bus, the main connections are through Glasgow and Fort William.  If you’re travelling by car, it’s about three and a half hours from Glasgow and four from Edinburgh, but for both you should add at least 45 minutes for slow traffic and/or weather delays.

Just to note – you cannot take your car over to Eigg, unless you have a blue badge. Contact us for help with applying for a permit, if necessary.
